Stake Your CLOUD Today

The wait is over! Our community has voted in favour of CLOUD staking through the CLOUD-1 governance proposal, and it’s finally here.

Starting today, you can stake your CLOUD at https://vote.sanctum.so/cloud-staking. When you stake, you’ll receive 1 Staked CLOUD (sCLOUD) for every CLOUD staked. If you choose to unstake, your sCLOUD will gradually convert back to CLOUD over 30 days.

Sanctum’s governance model, futarchy, relies on a mechanism similar to prediction markets to help us collectively make better decisions. However, one major risk is the “Keynesian beauty contest”, where traders might vote based on what they think others will support rather than what’s actually beneficial for Sanctum. This can create a self-reinforcing cycle disconnected from reality — leading to a dangerous outcome where proposals are passed based on hype and narrative, not actual value.

Staking is a promising solution. By using staked CLOUD (sCLOUD) as the base asset to participate in Sanctum’s futarchic markets, we encourage long-term participation. Since sCLOUD has a 30-day linear vesting lockup (meaning if you unstake 100 sCLOUD, you can claim ~3.3 CLOUD per day), it discourages short-term speculation and aligns incentives with long-term decision-making. We believe this will significantly mitigate the Keynesian beauty contest problem.

It’s easy to start staking:

1. Visit https://vote.sanctum.so/cloud-staking and connect your wallet
2. Enter the amount of CLOUD you want to stake
3. Click “Stake Now”
4. You’ll receive the same amount of sCLOUD in your wallet

That’s it! Your CLOUD is now staked.

If you choose to unstake:

1. Visit https://vote.sanctum.so/cloud-staking and connect your wallet
2. Switch to the “Unstake” tab
3. Enter the amount of sCLOUD you want to unstake
4. Click “Unstake”

Your sCLOUD will start converting back to CLOUD over 30 days. You’ll always get 1 CLOUD for every sCLOUD you unstake.

Your Staking Score, together with the number of qualifying proposals you participated in, determines your share of future Active Staking Rewards (ASR). It’s calculated based on how much CLOUD you stake and for how long (staked amount × duration). The longer you stake, the higher your score.

sCLOUD is an SPL token you receive in return for staking CLOUD. You get 1 sCLOUD for every 1 CLOUD staked.

If you have sCLOUD in your wallet, your CLOUD is staked. You can unstake it any time, and after 30 days, you’ll get back the equivalent amount of CLOUD.

Unstaking takes 30 days, during which your sCLOUD gradually converts back to CLOUD. You can claim any available unstaked CLOUD at any time during this period, or cancel any unstaking positions.

If you cancel your unstaking, any already unstaked CLOUD and remaining sCLOUD will be returned to your wallet instantly.
